Talk for parents by Alison Gebert in the Hall, 7pm

January 22 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

“A Map of Childhood – the Steiner Waldorf view of Child Development and its
Relationship to the Curriculum” – A talk by
Alison Gebert on
Monday 22nd January at 7 pm in Birch Hall and
Friday 26th January at 9 a.m. In the Pavilion.

In Steiner Waldorf schools, the curriculum
is very closely related to our view of child
development. It is designed to address
the needs and difficulties experienced by
children and young people as they pass
through different stages of development
on their journey towards adulthood.
In this talk we will look at the stages of development of children and young people
between the ages of 0 and 21, emphasising
particularly the crucial transition points –
which can often be experienced as crisis
points. At these points children can be
seen to experience changes in how they
relate to the world around them intellectually, emotionally and behaviourally. We will
then look at examples of how the Steiner
Waldorf Curriculum addresses these experiences providing support to the children
and also insight for parents and teachers
