Careers at Steiner Academy Hereford
At Steiner Academy Hereford, we have a range of activities lined up for students to access to prepare them for life beyond our school. Through class guardians/teachers and our careers lead, we offer the following:
Class 7:
- Personal skills are developed through a range of engaging activities woven into main lessons.
Class 8:
- Class 8 projects allow students to develop skills that will be applicable to work.
- Duke of Edinburgh award promotes good employability skills.
- Personal skills are developed through a range of engaging activities woven into main lessons.
- Relevant speakers in assemblies talk about careers and enterprise.
Class 9:
- Careers and destinations covered in circle times.
- Developing key employability skills during the “On the hill” residential trip.
- Relevant speakers in assemblies talk about careers and enterprise.
- Visiting a number of providers in order to gain an experience of some of the courses that they may want to study after class 10.
- Careers evening with all Herefordshire post-16 providers.
Class 10:
- Independent Careers advice on a one to one basis.
- Visits to a diverse range of providers (including Hereford Sixth Form, Hereford College of Arts, Hereford and Ludlow College, Hartpury College and Wynstones School).
- Information on apprenticeships and work based learning.
- Work experience that students organise themselves in order to understand the process of seeking work as well as an understanding of the world of work.
- CV Building.
- Help and support with the process of applying for colleges and choosing courses.
- Relevant speakers in assemblies talk about careers and enterprise.
- Careers evening with all Herefordshire post-16 providers.
Local Businesses and Careers Policy
As well as this, we regularly invite local business people from a diverse range of fields to inspire our students with their stories of success. Here is our Careers Policy, January 2021 for further information.
Measuring Impact
The school will measure impact through consulting with parents, students and teachers to gain their opinions on the success of the careers programme. These surveys will inform any future developments we put in place for the students.
