Becoming a Steiner Teacher

There is a range of Steiner teacher training courses which are listed on the Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship website.  Courses vary in their entrance requirements, methods of delivery and final awards.  The courses aim to equip their students to teach in any Steiner school in the UK and many countries abroad.  In addition a number of Steiner schools offer their own bespoke in-service courses.

Here at the Steiner Academy Hereford (SAH) our Funding Agreement allows us to employ teachers who have completed either a Steiner teacher education course, or a state teacher training programme, or, in some cases, both. In practice, however, experience has shown that it is very challenging for a teacher with no background in Steiner education to step into teaching in a Steiner school because the Steiner teaching method and curriculum are very different.

Inspired by Rudolf Steiner

Steiner School is a collective mark of the Steiner Waldorf School Fellowship.

“The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility. These are the three forces which are the very nerve of education.”
Rudolf Steiner
