The staff at Steiner Academy Hereford would like to congratulate their Year 11 leavers, 96% of whom have achieved at least a standard pass (grade 4 or better) in English, and 72% of whom have achieved this in maths (with 68% achieving both). 12% of our students achieved the highest possible grade in English Literature (grade 9) compared to 3.2% nationally. Across all subjects, roughly one third of all grades achieved were A or A* or their equivalents in the new grading system. Other data indicates that our students have made excellent academic progress during their time with us, and last year we were ranked second highest in England according to the Department for Education’s ‘Progress 8’ measure.
Primarily, we seek to nurture our pupils to be able to live fulfilling, meaningful and responsible lives, and for them to be able to make a positive contribution to the world. Nevertheless, our students’ academic success clearly demonstrates that a later start to formal learning does not disadvantage them; that an education allowing an unfettered childhood builds capacities for accelerated cognitive development later; and that an unhurried approach to learning allows time to lay solid foundations for our students to become self-directed, focused and able to think creatively and responsibly – and not to lose their love of learning!
We wish all of our leavers every success as they move on to local colleges and other destinations.
